Biochar as a soil conditioner
Biochar can improve soils and allow these soils to remain fertile. This assumption is validated by the Terra Preta phenomenon which was investigated intensively by researchers of the University of Bayreuth (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Zech and PD Dr. Bruno Glaser). Their research results on the Terra Preta in Amazonia show, that Biochar is a key to sustainable fertility of soils and to humus-enrichment in soils.
