Following the successful symposia ‘Biochar – Climate Saviour or Deceptive Packaging?’ and ‘Biochar in Focus – Production, Use and Evaluation,’ this year's symposium will focus on the marriage of the two ‘key topics’ of waste management and biochar. The 74th symposium aims to present and bring together the latest developments and practical applications in both areas. The third ANS symposium, entitled ‘Waste Management Meets Biochar – Prospects for Climate Protection?’, will take place on 1 and 2 October 2013 at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Telegrafenberg Haus H (lecture hall), 14473 Potsdam, and will include the innovative topic of ‘biochar’.

Until now, both areas have been working independently to develop solutions for sustainable and future-oriented waste management, material flow management, nutrient recycling and climate protection. The 74th symposium will bring the two areas together, highlight current developments, explore synergy effects and discuss practical examples.
