EIP-Agri – KAstab – ‘Targeted use of biostimulants to increase resilience in potato cultivation’

The KAstab project is investigating the extent to which the targeted use of biostimulants can help to minimise the negative effects of abiotic stress on potato cultivation. Particular attention is being paid to the tuber formation phase, as stress during this phase can lead to a reduced number of tubers. The aim is to improve the stability and economic efficiency of potato cultivation while developing approaches for more sustainable agriculture. The project is working on the development and application of biostimulants that are specifically designed to reduce stress factors in potato cultivation. In addition, the optimal application window for these biostimulants is being determined in order to maximise their effectiveness. Another work package focuses on the development of a combination of biostimulants with biochar, which can offer additional benefits for plant stability and the soil.
