Climate & soil condition:

  • strongly anthropogenically influenced soils
  • soil remediation after the military utilization (closure of the mental hospital around 1940)

Applications:

  • biochar, compost, hydrochar (HTC), mixture of these components
  • Compost, composted Hydro coal from hydrothermal carbonization and composted charcoal from pyrolysis

Experimental setup:

  • 16 plots (4 treatments, 25 mg* ha -1)
  • observing of changes in the microbial communities
  • monitoring of earthworm distributions (bio-tolerance)
  • analysis of plant properties regarding biogas potential
  • influences on the carbon content of the soil, the soil characteristics and the diversity of pioneer communities
  • environmental education
