Greenhouse trial- testing basic biochar setups

Contact: Hardy Schulz

Project: BMBF 01LY0909F

research question:

  1. Could biochar stabilize organic/inorganic nitrogen applications?
  2. Is there a limit for minimum application amounts (no effect level)?
  3. Is there a limit for maximum application amounts?

Results:

1.  Biochar influences the nitrogen cycle (Schulz & Glaser, JPNSS 2012, doi: 10.1002 / jpln.201100143   )

3.  No upper application level was found on two model soil substrates (Schulz & Glaser, ASDE 2012).
